Books for All: Scanning books into Digital Formats
Ref: BA4
"Literacy is fundemental to all areas of learning" but for many pupils with additional support needs, literacy is a struggle. 'Books for All' courses focus on creating and using accessible resources to enable pupils with additional support needs greater independent access to the curriculum, which schools and local authorities are obliged to do.
Schools and local authorities are obliged under disability legislation to consider how they can provide learning resources in accessible formats for pupils with disabilities. Microsoft Word is an excellent tool for creating digital resources for learners to access using Word itself, or for conversion into other accessible formats such as PDF, audio MP3, RTF and Daisy.
Knowing how to get the best out of scanning software can make a huge difference to the final accessibility of your digital resource. Come and explore different methods and software and gain skills in editing your documents.
