"Literacy is fundemental to all areas of learning" but for many pupils with additional support needs, literacy is a struggle. 'Books for All' courses focus on creating and using accessible resources to enable pupils with additional support needs greater independent access to the curriculum, which schools and local authorities are obliged to do.
Schools and local authorities are obliged to consider how they can provide learning resources in accessible formats for pupils with disabilities. Recent changes to the CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency) Licence make it easier for schools to adapt resources for pupils with dyslexia and other reading and writing difficulties. 'Books for All' courses focus on creating and using accessible resources to enable pupils with additional support needs greater independent access to the curriculum.
PowerPoint is a great tool for making resources for pupils who are very young, or who have complex additional support needs, perhaps using single switch or touch screen access. Learn how to use photos, images from the internet, music, recorded speech, animations, etc with your powerpoints and discover innovative ways to use this versatile software.
This is a hands-on course.
What you'll learn:
- Gain awareness of the capabilities of Powerpoint to create resources for pupils with additional support needs
- Gain confidence in using the basic features of Powerpoint to create a slide show
- Gain experience and confidence in using some advanced features of Powerpoint
- Create resources that they can take away and use with pupil.
